The Importance of the Breath
15 July 2023/ 3-5 pm – 50 Hill Rise Richmond TW10 6UB – Mulberry’s Studio
This 2 hour workshop aims to explain the mechanism of breathing as well as giving you a chance to explore your own breathing patterns.
To begin with there will be a talk on the anatomy and physiology of the breathing process so that we better understand why good breathing habits are so essential for our well-being. Did you for example know that the mucus-membrane of one nostril swells and fades in alternation with the other nostril? Or why breathing deeply allows a better oxygen-exchange in the lungs? In the yoga tradition the link between mind, breath, movement and health has always been central to the application of yoga techniques, but the insights translate much further and ultimately into the way we live – and breathe – our lives.
Later you will have the possibility to gently work with your own breath, in quiet sitting and also within simple yoga posture movement. There will be space for question and answers as well as a 20 min break to chat in the middle. This workshop is suitable for everyone.
Costs: £30 – Booking can be made via this link:

- a tea break with opportunity to chat

Yoga for Mental Health in Uncertain Times
13 March 2021 / 10:30 am – 1:00 pm – taught on Zoom
Currently Covid-19 places some form of stress on us, however uncertainty is an intrinsic part of life. This workshop is based on what I have learned as part of my Diploma in Yoga Teaching as well as in additional workshops I have done recently specifically to this topic.
You will learn
- some practices that may help to alleviate stress and anxiety and low mood
- understand the basic mechanism of stress and the underlying principles of the relaxation response which are employed in yoga practices
- get a glimpse of yoga philosophy’s approach on how to attenuate the negative effects of stress
The workshop will be divided into a theory part, two practices – one short (15 min) and one longer one (45 min) – and will give space for discussion and questions. There will be a break of 15-20 min.
Cost £20.00
