Yoga Therapy

What is yoga therapy?

Yoga therapy is a special one-to-one application of yoga aiming to bring about well-being, health and balance on a physical, psychological and emotional level. It is completely tailored to the individual and considers for example your physical characteristics, your daily challenges, your diet and lifestyle habits or your energy levels.

Which problems can be treated?

Yoga therapy can be a supportive treatment for a wide range of health and well-being disorders. You might struggle with musculoskeletal problems as knee or back pain or with a more systemic illness like hypothyroidism, burn-out or chronic fatigue. Similarly, the tools of yoga can be harnessed to aid with mental imbalances. Of great value for all conditions is the therapeutic use of breath.

Which are the tools of yoga therapy?

The tools of yoga therapy can include movement, breathwork, meditation, visualisation, mantra (phrase repetition), mudra (hand and body postures) and sound (chanting).

What to expect?
  • You will receive a consultation form in which I will ask you to give details of your current and past status of health, your lifestyle and your mental well-being.
  • This will be followed up by an appointment, ideally in person, in which we will establish your goals for yoga therapy.
  • In a second session I will do a visual observation of your body in standing, seated and lying, as well within movement.
  • Then I will develop a home practice for you, which will be tailored to your needs and abilities. The length of the practice will also be fitted to your time availability. You will be asked to do this practice ideally daily.
  • We will review the home practice a week later. Depending on your needs the next couple of appointments can be weekly or fortnightly.
  • A minimum of six sessions in total is recommended.
Costs

My fees are flexible. The cost for six sessions ranges from £180 to £240, depending on your budget.

Development

Regular mindful and focussed practice will have an impact on your physical structure, your nervous system, your energy and your mind. Applied appropriately, this therapy might take some time. However, yoga therapy aims to engage with the root of a problem and therefore can produce lasting improvements for your health and well-being.
